I've just read about successful trials of a pill sized camera which is swallowed then travels through normal channels for approx 8 hours. It takes 2 photos per second which are transmitted to a gadget worn around the waist.
It tracks possible cancer and crones desease etc.
I have never needed a colonoscopy but read/heard that the whole thing is, to say the least, unpleasant.

I've read several reports suggesting the "super" El Nino that has formed could lead to poor crop harvests and shortages/price increases in one form or another.

Now I'm far from being a survivalist or even a prepper. I have started stockpiling items, that could be impacted and make up a significant proportion of my diet, namely:
basmati ricearborio ricecouscouspasta - various formslentilsporridgeWeetabixsugarvegetable/olive oilwhite wine/cider..

Interesting conversation with my local BMW dealer and also BMW UK yesterday.

The back story, a message pops up on the dash every time I start the car saying the service is due 28th November.

However, according to my BMW service plan, the first service isn't due till March 2027, which is two years after the car was first registered. The car was PDI'd on the 13th March 2025 and consequently registered on the 18th March 2025.

So I rang the local dealer explained the issue and they said just..

I've noticed that when discussing distance in the forum bods always seem to refer the the number of kilometres rather than miles, even when UK travel. Is this a cycling thing? Just curious

Thanks

I heard this on the radio today.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news..jailed-life-murder-michael-mullins-manchester

About time the CPS grew a pair and charged someone with murder rather than causing death by dangerous driving and well done to the judge for giving a sentence that reflects the seriousness of the crime. If only his previous motoring offences had been dealt with properly perhaps his victim would still be alive.

My heartfelt condolences..

Apparently I missed one which I still hold.

On my 65th Birthday I received a prize cheque for £25!

A thread specially for 'persons of leisure' and independent means, or those with aspirations.
How do you while away those lazy days?
How do you cope financially?
When did you retire?
Is retirement what you expected?
How long did you take to adjust?
Etc.

Tell us what you are up to today or what plans you have.
Or just have a bit of silliness to while away those lazy hours.

I've been busy today. Hilly 15 mile ride in North Devon, took dog for a stroll along Saunton Sands, cut the front lawn..

[Part 3 of the thread originally started by Mondobongo - http://www.cyclechat..ciation-part-1/ + http://www.cyclechat..ciation.39458/ ]

If you listen to Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie of an evening then you will already know what this is all about. For those that don't you start with a song another song is then linked to the previous could be as simple as same/similar words artist in a different band or you could really go off on a tangent. All the songs..

Thought us motorsport geeks and geekettes needed a place to chinwag and chunter - so here it is. Everything from F1 to FE and BTCC to GT. As long as it's got wheels and an engine and races, it's there to be talked about, as well as drivers, tech and gossip.

So i'll bid you all welcome and slope back off to listening to the Russian GP while watching the BTCC on the telly. Wonder how the F1 will pan out, things have gone a bit, umm, interesting..

OK This is a little game which had a lot of success on another (car) forum that I used to be on.
Basically someone sets a challenge which is to take a picture of your bike next to a certain type of monument/landmark/building/interesting feature/anything curious really. The first person that validly fulfills the challenge gets to set the next one. It has to have your bike in the photo, and the person that set the challenge adjudicates whether it passes the challenge.

might not take off, but..

It appears that motorists don't appreciate my Road Tax jersey or at least I had far more close passes today then any other day for a few months.

I saw my first 'bent out in the wild. Obviously I've seen them before but this was the first time it belonged to someone I didn't know. Strange design too, very long wheelbase with what looked like a normal headtube over the front wheel, steered from underseat but the front wheel was a long way from the rider.

More and more helmet wearers that..

The film thread is getting all cluttered up with idiots like me rating serials, shows and documentaries.

So, here is the all encompassing TV thread.

Review and rate what you're watching or have recently watched, please hide spoilers behind tags!

I'll kick off with:

Making a Murderer - 6/10

A solid but at times frustrating account of Steven Avery. It's a pretty damning critique of the American legal process, and the commitment of the filmmakers is impressive. But some parts are..

This is a thread to celebrate the tiny rides that are still a triumph in their own way. I’m setting it up to support my resolution on @Ming the Merciless ’s Cycling hopes and dreams 2023 thread. So my January mini goal is simply to get a bike out of the garage and down the road, once a week. I might just loop around the housing estate after putting air in the tyres, or I might stretch to 5 or 7k. Or I might do the 15minute pootle to the leisure centre or into town. If it’s really..
