A recent post here got me thinking about our demographic here. And I’m sure we cover a huge range between us....

Which are you ?

How about a thread of your walk today or recently??

I'll start

Hartland manor to the sea.

Love the manor, wife and youngest went round the manor whilst I walked the dog round the grounds, then a 1.5mile walk to the beach - large pebbles tbh.

I have eaten it 3 times (once in a swish, expensive restaurant) and have to say I can happily live without it.

My son is a chef/owner of a nice place and decided to put lobster on the Christmas day menu.
Out of 80 covers just one person went with lobster.....that must say something

It’s the night of Saturday July 25th. And I believe is 117 miles. Anyone here doing it ?

Guy I planned on going with just cancelled on me. I know another ‘group’ who’ll easily be an hour or more quicker than me. And another good friend is now riding with his Wife; and will be hours slower than I.

The LBS is organising a bus for the rider; and a lorry for the bike for £50.
I’m considering going alone as such and hopefully tagging along with someone my pace once it sorts itself out a..

Hello. One thing I have found useful during lockdown is building Lego.
I found myself suffering from anxiety and this helps! I got myself a Classic Lego set and I am now building lots of different models.
Does anyone else on here use Lego? I always loved it as a child. There's loads of ideas online.
Please post some pics fellow Lego modellers!

Thought us motorsport geeks and geekettes needed a place to chinwag and chunter - so here it is. Everything from F1 to FE and BTCC to GT. As long as it's got wheels and an engine and races, it's there to be talked about, as well as drivers, tech and gossip.

So i'll bid you all welcome and slope back off to listening to the Russian GP while watching the BTCC on the telly. Wonder how the F1 will pan out, things have gone a bit, umm, interesting..

Hello Hive
On my last few gels and was wondering if any one knows of a manufacturer and/or purveyor of decent quality energy gel multipacks that are a sensible price?
The ones I am about to finish were SIS ones. I bought 4 boxes when they were in Lidl a few years ago. I have 1 left and most of a tube of electrolyte tablets (out of date but don't make me crook).
look forward to hearing folks opinions/recommendations.

Welcome to the Twelfth edition of the half century a month challenge

THIS THREAD IS FOR RIDE REPORTS ONLY - discussions should take place over in the 2025 chatzone

There were already challenge threads for monthly imperial centuries (100 mile rides) and metric centuries (100 km or 62.14 mile rides). So @ColinJ thought it would be a nice idea to come up with an easier challenge for those who don't have the time, energy or inclination to do the longer rides so he created the half..

The lawn has moss in it which is gradually getting worse each year.

A couple of times each year I put down moss-killer and rake the dead moss out, and reseed any bare patches. But by the end of the following winter the moss is back with a vengeance.

Over the last weekend I gave the lawn it's first cut and raked out some of the moss. I'll hold off for a few weeks before applying any moss killer, but the amount of moss this year means I will have some massive bare patches to deal with. I..

Instead of buying new vacuum cleaner filters I chuck the used ones in an old pillowcase and bung them in the washing machine with the laundry. I get 4 or 5 uses out of them before they require replacing, which saves my change purse a tenner a time and reduces the amount going into landfill.

So what money saving hints and tips do you fine folk have?

Hi everyone,

My name is Page Sieffert, and I'm excited to join the Cycle Chat community. I've always enjoyed cycling for fitness, adventure, and exploring new places, and I'm looking forward to learning from other riders and sharing experiences along the way.

I've been browsing the forum and it seems like a great group of people with a wealth of knowledge. Looking forward to joining the discussions and getting to know you all.

Happy riding!

Plenty of cyclists out there who own a car made by the prancing moose. About time we had a thread of our own to discuss the trials and tribulations of Volvo ownership, and generally pat each other on the back for driving superior cars.

So, who else drives a Volvo, and wotcher got?

The old one seems to have been lost in the corridor of uncertainty.
As we speak, the amazing Joe Root has scored another ton which means he has got to at least 50 in his last 11 Tests. Outstanding.
Cook has ploughed on to his 31st ton which, whike not being of the same flair, is also amazxing. Let's hope these two stay fit for the Ashes.
Albeit that this Windies outfit are not a patch on their teams of old, sadly.

A thread specially for 'persons of leisure' and independent means, or those with aspirations.
How do you while away those lazy days?
How do you cope financially?
When did you retire?
Is retirement what you expected?
How long did you take to adjust?
Etc.

Tell us what you are up to today or what plans you have.
Or just have a bit of silliness to while away those lazy hours.

I've been busy today. Hilly 15 mile ride in North Devon, took dog for a stroll along Saunton Sands, cut the front lawn..

OK This is a little game which had a lot of success on another (car) forum that I used to be on.
Basically someone sets a challenge which is to take a picture of your bike next to a certain type of monument/landmark/building/interesting feature/anything curious really. The first person that validly fulfills the challenge gets to set the next one. It has to have your bike in the photo, and the person that set the challenge adjudicates whether it passes the challenge.

might not take off, but..

Well I wasn’t expecting this, the parent bird was squished, this little guy was sitting in the road, and when I crouched down and put my hand near him he hopped on and then onto my bars.

Pushed the bike to the local pub, and he took some water from a cap, hung around for 10mins and flew off.

My wife had turned up with a box incase he was injured and we were going to call the RSPB.
