A thread specially for 'persons of leisure' and independent means, or those with aspirations.
How do you while away those lazy days?
How do you cope financially?
When did you retire?
Is retirement what you expected?
How long did you take to adjust?
Etc.

Tell us what you are up to today or what plans you have.
Or just have a bit of silliness to while away those lazy hours.

I've been busy today. Hilly 15 mile ride in North Devon, took dog for a stroll along Saunton Sands, cut the front lawn..

I went into Halfords and bought some Muck Off (getting ready for the weekend cleaning ) and some chain lube. The guy dropped the chain lube and it broke and spilled out over the floor lol

Plenty of cyclists out there who own a car made by the prancing moose. About time we had a thread of our own to discuss the trials and tribulations of Volvo ownership, and generally pat each other on the back for driving superior cars.

So, who else drives a Volvo, and wotcher got?

It's long bugged me that there's no thread for, simply, the rugby, in the way that there is for, say, football or cricket. So apologies for the presumption in mooting one, but I honestly couldn't find anywhere to post.

And I can't believe I'm the only one who saw Ireland v All Blacks yesterday.

I was brooding about this in a back-of-mind sort of way when I came across a post by somone called Unionfan who said so exactly what I felt, and it was so honest and so heartfelt that..

Hello all,

I recently brought some BMX tyres for my folder in order to make the ride quality better and make it less of a death trap when on gravel ( it has narrow slicks on at present) they were supposed to be 20 x 2.00 but in reality were 2.25 but as they were really tall they fowled the brake cable and were only just able to fit between the frame. I had measured the possible max width at the same height as the original slicks. So my question is do up market tyres also give a height size..

Hi All. I've just joined the chat as I've been reading some other posts with regard to getting bikes 'there and back' as easily/ cheaply as possible. So, 6/7 of us are planning this for May next year and having looked at the options we would probably choose to fly to Bordeaux with bagged bikes and stay a night there before beginning our ride. After reaching Sete we would aim to cycle to Montpellier to catch a TGV iNOUi service to Lille for a connection on the Eurostar back to London. Having..

Evening.

I do have some front light that came with the bike from Decathlon which are battery powered. Looking for something reasonably cheap. Let others know I’m on the road and which will allow me to see about 15-20 feet ahead? Are there any recommendations because I checked Amazon and I couldn’t decide with all the lumens? (I know more lumens = more bright but no idea what do I require as a minimum.) Will try and take a picture of the present light when I go riding later!.

Also, is..

Quick question - when the bearings go on these, can they be replaced or do you have to replace the whole pedal?
Forgive me being lazy and not phoning the LBS....

Mentioned elsewhere, but I think theres probably enough of us van dwellers to have a stab at organising a get together for a few days camping, farting, eating, drinking, and complaining a lot about nothing in 2027. We could even get some event stickers made for our wagons!

Before we get down to the nuts and bolts of organising anything it's probably best seeing who would be interested in principle. If you are, add your name to the list and select the poll option.

I worked for the NHS and after my heart attack last year I enquired about I'll health retirement. I had to have an interview with the trusts occupational health doctor - who agreed to support my case for IHR.
This was based on 3 areas of my health:-

Spinal issues - ongoing on and off for 30 years - but significantly worse in the last 3.

Mental Health - pretty much as above.

My cardiac health.

Despite the trust doctors report - NHS pensions contract out the health assessment to an..

This event first ran in 2014 and was filmed by the BBC for the adventure show. The second edition has just run from last Monday till just after midnight today. What an epic, thoroughly enjoyed it. You had to work hard to succeed, but such rewards. I believe @matticus rode the inaugural event.

Mine was so good. (I did go for that ride..glad i did)
Just over 20 miles, but since the rear ends a bit sore..
Suns been shining here all day, 13 or 14 degrees, 15 mph winds made it a bit slow on the outrun, but fast home (20 -25 mph for 6 miles ).
Very very glad i went...now i feel guilty about feeling good

How was yours...

Hello. One thing I have found useful during lockdown is building Lego.
I found myself suffering from anxiety and this helps! I got myself a Classic Lego set and I am now building lots of different models.
Does anyone else on here use Lego? I always loved it as a child. There's loads of ideas online.
Please post some pics fellow Lego modellers!
