Short story is that for various reasons I've never interacted much with pensions. I pay a tiny amount into whatever the current statutory state sponsored scheme is and have a small amount in a private(?) pension opened during my first ill-fated graduate job many years ago.

A cursory glance over my latest statement from the private pension suggests that it made about 12% last year, which is obviously far better than any consumer-facing savings accounts, and has piqued my interest.

I am in my sixties. Annoyingly Strava age brackets are 55-65 which seems crazy to me - how on earth can I compete with a 55 year old me? that guy was pretty damn quick!

But there is a popular segment near me which is tasking me. I have started back up with Strava and noticed last week that the fastest time is just under 3 mins for the over 55s - I had a crack at this last week from a standing start and was 7s off the pace.

Bent the front mudguard on my commuter bike recently so just fitted a new one using the fixings from the old one which had already been bent around to suit the disc brake.

I have used varifocal specs for about 20 years now. Because I have always done a fair amount of small-scale stuff, I have the glasses made so that I can focus to about 6 or 7 inches at the bottom edge of the lens. This works very nicely, except that when I have to bend over the work, the glasses fall upward with respect to my face, over my eyebrows or forehead, leaving me unable to see the item of interest. I went into Halfords and bought some Muck Off (getting ready for the weekend cleaning ) and some chain lube. The guy dropped the chain lube and it broke and spilled out over the floor lol

Hi, I have a new mountain bike and saddle in center of rail scale approx but I need saddle approx 15mm backwards to be about right and although there is room on rails for this I read it isn't advised, do I need a setback seat post to achieve this ?

Shave legs, Yes or No?

Long story short..... I've been using a DIY gearchange comprising 'capuccino' mounts with Shimano bar-end indexed shifters for the last 12 years. They have given a good and easy change with hands on the hoods. Recently one of the detents on the RH lever packed up, and I don't seem able to get a replacement (only pairs, and expensive). I was hoping to dismantle it and effect a repair, but it's peened over so any attempt to repair will render it useless. It's 3x7 speed (8 will also work)..

New bike on order(from Canyon so not holding my breath) and I'm thinking of going down hot wax route for chain.
I currently use Squirt drip and it's been fine but thinking with new bike and drivetrain chain etc I might try hot wax.
The Silca system appeals as can use Strip chip on factory grease so saves cleaning faff.

So, anyone who does this I'd appreciate any reviews etc. Ive read thread from back in 2024 but must be some here using this now with pluses and minuses of it.

Turns out that all Canary Islands finale bets are off for fear that someone might take offence that a team not called Israel in any way might be construed as being an Israeli team.

With Madrid having already shrugged its shoulders of the event by organising a car race for that weekend, it's looking like an Andalusian end to the GT year.
