PLAQUE UNVEILED AT PICCADILLY RECORDS, MANCHESTER, TO CELEBRATE AHEAD OF THE RELEASE OF JOHNNY MARRS EXCLUSIVE RECORD STORE DAY 2025 ALBUM RELEASE LOOK OUT LIVE! ON ORANGE VINYL

Record Store Dayis thrilled to announce Johnny Marras the 2025 recipient of itsRecord Store Legendaccolade.

This honour celebrates Marr's enduring influence on music and his unwavering support for independent record stores worldwide, as well as the love and admiration for Marr and his music that comes from record stores themselves. He is the second recipient of this highly prestigious award.

The accolade is a joint honour presented by both Record Store Day US and UK, following on from the first recipient,Elton John, who received Record Store Legend status in 2017 to celebrate Record Store Days 10th Birthday.

The Record Store Legend Award recognizes Marrs continuing commitment to championing record stores across multiple album campaigns, embodying the spirit and culture of record stores across the world. It is this ongoing collaboration that aims to pave the way for future artists and inspire them to build meaningful and supportive relationships with the indie sector.

To commemorate this honour, a plaque has been unveiled at Marrs favourite record shop,Piccadilly Recordsin his hometown of Manchester, England, to reflect Johnnys deep connection to both the shop, the Manchester music scene and his ongoing commitment to celebrating the culture so vital to championing grassroots talent. The installation of the first Record Store Legend plaque serves as an invitation for fans of Johnny Marr to visit a record store and share their own appreciation. On seeing the plaque, Johnny Marr said:

Going out to a record store, its a nice pastime. Its a part of the culture, if they were to completely disappear, the high street or the city centre would be a much worse off place. There's something about the presence of a record store. Its a magical thing. Ive known the staff in Piccadilly Records for 20 yearsthis plaque is a very nice thing to be associated with.

And y McQueen, Piccadilly Records said,

Johnny Marr is our favourite living artist and his music has soundtracked our lives for over forty years. To be associated with him in this beautiful way; well, the pleasure, the privilege is ours."

Marr's influence extends beyond his own musical contributions; he actively champions the culture that surrounds record shops, recognizing them as vital music spaces, crucial for supporting and breaking new artists and bringing like-minded music fans together.

The 18th annual celebration of Record Store Day takes place on 12thApril 2025 and sees thousands of independent record shops worldwide set to participate with parties, in-store performances and limited-edition releases from over 300 artists.

Johnny Marr celebrates Record Store Day 2025 with an exclusive release Look Out Live! , a double orange vinyl LP encapsulating the magic of his sold-out show at Hammersmith Apollo in London 2024, only in independent record shops on 12thApril. The track listing includes live fan favourites, Hi Hello, Easy Money and Somewhere, The Smiths classics' This Charming Man, How Soon Is Now?, and Electronics Getting Away With It (ft Neil Tennant).

Johnny Marr began his prolific career with The Smiths, founding a legacy as one of the most influential songwriters and guitarists in British independent music. Since launching in 2013, his acclaimed solo career has given rise to five UK Top Ten albums - The Messenger (2013), Playland (2014), Call The Comet (2018), Fever Dreams Pts 1-4 (2022) and Spirit Power: The Best Of Johnny Marr (2023) - a record that captured the full measure of this extraordinarily prolific period.

Johnnys solo career has also seen him collaborate with some of the most celebrated artists in contemporary music, including the Talking Heads, Pretenders, Electronic, Modest Mouse, The Cribs, The Avalanches, Hans Zimmer and Billie Eilish, recently recording the score and soundtrack for the James Bond film,No Time To Die.

The titles on the RSD 2025 Official List will be released at participating record stores as part of their celebration of Record Store Day, April 12. You can choose to view the List on our website, with added detail and artwork, or you can print out a PDF that can be used as a wishlist orshopping guide. RECORD STORE DAY DOES NOT SELL THE RELEASES. THERE IS NO WEBSITE WHERE THESE CAN BE PRE-ORDERED. Please use the Participating Store Search to find a store near you and contact them directly to find out how theyre participating and celebrating Record Store Day. Stores in the US may choose to sell releases online starting Sunday, April 13. The List of special releases is below, in a WEBSITE form where you can search and get more information, and a PDF that you can print out and use as a Wish List or Shopping Guide.

There are three categories on our List:

EXCLUSIVES: These titles are physically released only at indie record stores. RSD FIRST: These titles are found first at indie record stores but may be released to other retailers or webstores at some point in the future. SMALL RUN/REGIONAL TITLES: These titles are either regionally based and sold at specific stores, or are press runs under 1000, which means they may be harder to find at record stores around the country. The majority of the titles on this section of the List are Small Run titles; any title that's regionally based and most likely to be found at specific stores will have that called out in the description, which can be found on the web-based version of the List. Things to know and remember: *Record Store Day does not give or sell the releases to participating stores. Each indie record store makes their own buying decisions and may choose to bring in some titles and not others. *The titles on the List are limited in number, as are most things created for special time periods or exclusive to certain retailers. This means a store may not get all copies they wanted or that a store may sell out of a release before you are able to purchase it. (NOTE: This is the US website for Record Store Day. The pressing runs listed on our site are the number available in the US. Worldwide numbers are sometimes found in the description of a specific title, when we are given that information.) *As we said above, this is the US website, and the titles listed here are offered to US record stores. Many other countries participate in Record Store Day and RSD Drops and many record stores in those countries may have some of these releases. Check with your local record store if youre not in the US. (NOTE: for all kinds of reasons, some titles may be offered and available in some countries but not others. Record Store Day has no control over that.) *The List of titles may change. Titles may be added, titles may drop off, information may be amended. Record Store Day does not own or produce the releases (with the exception of those we create ourselves.) The information on each title has been provided to us by labels and distributors and is correct to the best of our knowledge. *Speaking of changes: everyone is still going through them right now, including your local record store employees. They are doing everything they can to get you the titles you want, but some things, like pressing plant emergency quarantines, or part-time new shipping facility workers learning from their mistakes or a boat blocking the Suez canal, are beyond their control and LEGITIMATELY MAY AFFECT THEIR ABILITY TO GET YOU YOUR RECORDS. Lets all be nice and patient and understanding, especially if were talking about Days or titles meant to celebrate and support indie record stores.
